New Chapter

Created by Murray 13 years ago
Joyce was born to Charles and Doris Mudge, into a happy home and benefitted all through her life from her wonderful parents. She married Peter Roberts in 1952 and they had their only son Murray in 1961. Tragically, Peter died in 1963 and Joyce raised Murray with the support of his Grandparents. Though times were hard it is a tribute to the willpower and tenacity of Joyce that Murray had a fantastic loving childhood, and was never troubled by the fact he had lost his Father. In 1978 Joyce met and married Norman Howard, a fantastic stepfather and a great personality. Joyce, at this time, also looked after her new mother-in-law, her own mother and father, and Murray. She coped as she always did and ensured her family came first. Tragically Norman died in 1990, so once again Joyce was on her own. In December 1993 Alexandra was born, followed in 1997 by Eleanor and they became the apple of their Grandmother's eye. Joyce was as fantastic as a Grandmother as she was a mother, and revelled in every minute spent with her Grand-daughters. In February 2009, Joyce was knocked down by a car and suffered a major brain injury. Through the skill of the Surgeons at Charing Cross Hospital and the hard work of the Neuro Rehabilitation team at the Wellington Hospital, London, Joyce returned home some months later. Her short term memory was severely affected but her long term memory returned completely. On 5th of August 2010 Joyce died at home without suffering. She is now with all of her loved ones that have gone before, and will be terribly missed by those she has left behind. She, when she was able, was a great supporter of charity and her son thinks it would be a fitting tribute by her friends and family, to show their love and respect for Joyce, by contributing to Headway Charity.
